The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The house is situated in the Languedoc-Roussillon region which is the warmest and sunniest in France.

The house in Jujols is situated in a very small mediaval village at the foot of the Pyrenees. The village lies neer the N116 (route nationale) which leads from Perpignan and up to the mountains towards the mini state of Andorra. It is about 60 km. to Perpignan, about 100 km. to Andorra and about 1 hour,s drive to the Mediterranean.

Understandably, France is a favourite holiday country and each region has its own characteristics and places of interest for visitors. In this area I can mention, among others, the Carmargue Delta with its wild countryside where you can still see enormous flocks of white horses, black bulls and pink flamingos. The area also offers many places of historic interest including the ruins of the cathars former castles for defence and refuge - Aguilar, Peyrepertuse, Queribus, Puylaurens, Puivart and Lastours - and the very well preserved fortress of Carcassonne. Here a double ring wall with 54 lookout towers encircles the medieval buildings. And there is Pont du Gard, an enormous construction, an aquaduct which supplied the town of Nimes with water in Roman times. The region beyond offers picturesque villages, dreamlike valleys, bizarre cliff formations and ravines.

There are many possibilities for sport activities in the area, including windsurfing, fishing, cycling and mountain walking. There are also golf courses within an hour's drive from the houses.

Quite simply there are opportunities for having  both an  exciting and a relaxing holiday in Jujols.
